Your Favorite Ghost Track Not Here?
Fix that by setting up a website for it!
Creating an old track website is not difficult.

I had my first one up and running in about 40 minutes with absolutely no knowledge of Internet procedure, thanks to the inexpensive server space and simple site builder available from www.homestead.com

If you have an Internet-enabled PC (and if you're reading this, you must have) you are 90% there.  A scanner for old photos and a digital camera for new ones are good to have, but not essential.

Start with your written memories and you will find people very helpful in sending digital pictures that you can add to your website.  At least I have.

Auto race tracks can be ephemeral things, built way out in the country one day, then surrounded by suburbia and covered over by shopping centers and subdivisions seemingly the next day.

This site is an index to websites devoted to tracks that are gone or at least inactive, but that still exist firmly in the memories of those who raced, watched and worked at them.

This site is both to recognise the good work done by webmasters who have preserved the memories of these old tracks, and also to encourage others to create sites for tracks not now covered.  Photos and memories are both fading fast.  At least mine are!

We invite your contributions to expand these kistings. Send your URL suggestions to Ghost Tracks Webmaster.  Thanks.

Site sponsor: Chicagoland Sports Car Club is an active sports car racing organization with members all over the midwest.  They are a key club in the Midwestern Council of Sports Car Clubs, and are known for their annual "Loooong Race".  2007 will see the 40th annual "Loooong Race".
